Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest difference in how a yard looks from the street. That's exactly what happened on this Altoona property. The homeowner wanted to add a few new trees to the front yard and dress things up a bit - nothing overcomplicated, just clean and intentional.
We matched the new tree rings to the existing ones already at the front of the home. That consistency matters more than people realize. When the edging, stone, and rock all tie together, the whole yard feels like it was designed with a plan rather than pieced together over time.
Each ring got a solid border of concrete edging blocks set tight and level, then filled with decorative river rock. It keeps the base of the trees looking sharp, cuts down on trimming around the trunk, and gives the yard a finished, maintained look without a lot of ongoing upkeep.
This is one of those landscaping upgrades that's genuinely low-maintenance once it's done. The rock doesn't need to be replaced every season like mulch, and the edging holds its shape. It's a practical solution that also happens to look really good from the curb.
If your front yard is missing that polished, pulled-together feel, tree rings and simple landscape edging are a great place to start. We work on projects like this all the time - big and small - and it's always satisfying to see how much a clean yard detail can do for a home's overall appearance.
