New construction landscaping is one of those jobs that gets overlooked until the very end - and then suddenly it matters a lot. The house is done, the deck is up, the concrete is poured, and now you're staring at bare dirt and construction debris wondering how it all comes together. That's exactly where we came in on this one.

We went with Iowa Buff paired with a tan river rock look throughout the foundation beds. It's a combination that works really well on new builds - the warm tones in the rock complement the siding and stonework without fighting for attention. The edging holds everything clean and gives the beds a finished border that ties the whole front and back of the home together.

The under-deck area was one of the more detail-oriented parts of this job. Getting the edging set correctly around the posts and keeping the grading clean takes patience, especially when you're working in tight spots with equipment nearby. We set the border stone, moved material by hand where we needed to, and made sure the finished product was going to look intentional - not like an afterthought.

There's still a final wash-down to do once water is on at the house. Construction dust and debris have a way of settling into fresh rock and dull the whole look down. Once we can rinse everything off, the Iowa Buff is going to pop the way it should. We'll share updated photos when we get back out there to wrap it up. Every new home deserves a strong finish on the outside, and this one is getting there.

This is the kind of work we genuinely enjoy - coming in at the end of a build and helping a brand new home look like it's actually complete. New construction landscaping requires a different mindset than a standard residential job. You're coordinating around other trades, working in rough conditions, and still expected to deliver something polished. We take that seriously every time.
