New construction landscaping is one of those things that can make or break the finished look of a home. The yard is raw, the grade is rough, and without some real planning - it all just looks unfinished. That's exactly what we were working with here in Norwalk on this job for Serenity Homes.
We did a full landscape install around the entire home. That meant wallstone retaining walls to manage the grade changes on the side and rear of the house, clean wallstone edging all the way around the foundation, and black obsidian rock filled in throughout. Every section was planned to work together - not just look good in one spot and fall apart in another.
The wallstone work is what ties it all together structurally. New construction sites often have significant grade challenges right along the foundation, and a properly built retaining wall keeps everything in place long-term. We built these walls to handle that job while still looking sharp against the dark exterior siding.
The edging runs the whole perimeter with smooth, curved lines that give every bed a finished boundary. Once the black obsidian rock gets rinsed down, that color contrast against the wallstone and the house exterior is really going to stand out. It's one of those materials that looks good from day one but gets even better clean.
Big thanks to Leslie, Rita, and the Serenity Homes team for trusting us with this one. Jobs like this are what we enjoy - a blank canvas on a brand new build, and the opportunity to set the tone for the whole property from the ground up.
